Mr. “C” and I absolutely love good steaks; unfortunately there aren’t too many good steakhouses in Mauritius.
Recently we were told by a friend that Charka Steak House is the best “original” steak house in Mauritius, serving top quality meats imported from South Africa. This is why, as part of our search for a great steak we decided to visit the Charka Steak House and to try it for ourselves.
The Charka steak house is located in the Le Preskil Beach Resort, Pointe Jérome – Mahébourg.

Upon arriving to the restaurant, we were seated immediately at the very romantic table assigned for us with beach view. The waiter was kind enough to move the chair for me and place the napkin on my lap, which was very nice.
Even though this restaurant is not part of the HB (Half Board) option of the hotel and as such it is not free for the hotel guests, the restaurant was quite full. We later learned that the supplement for the guests if they want to dine at this restaurant is only 15 Euro per person, which includes any of the starters, main courses and desserts. As you will read on, this is a truly great deal for the divine food we were lucky to have at the Charka. So if you are planning to stay at the Le Preskil, make sure to choose the option of the “a la carte” at the Charka restaurant- you will definitely not regret it.
The main focus of the Charka restaurant is Stakes and meats, with that you are sure to find a variety of fish and seafood dishes.
We started the dinner with light drinks, I had the mixed fruit juice (2 Euro) and Mr. “C” chose the Vital sparkling water (1.5 Euro).

For starters I decided to order the fish ceviche (9 Euro) and Mr. “C” the beef tartar (11 Euro).
Before receiving the starters we each received complimentary garlic bread. Once we dug in, I hoped that the rest of the meal would taste as good, which it did. It was perfect, crispy, hot, not too much garlic and not too little, just right.

The raw marinated fish ceviche was made from what I was told “the best fish of the season” – which in our case was the red snapper, along with lemon, tomato, onion & coriander.
You could taste the freshness of the dish with every bite, and I loved it.

As for the no prescription cialis beef tarter, it was splendid. It was made of a finely chopped tender raw fillet, accompanied by all the traditional trimmings and vegetables julienne.
Both starters were served with a small green salad on the side, which was well seasoned, not overbearing in its taste and was nicely combined with the dishes.
Aside from being delicious, the starters were very big which made them very valuable for money.
As for the meats, we had the choice of Sirloin and Rump (14.00 Euro), Filet or T-bone (16 Euro) or any of the chef’s specialties such as the Charka’s beef burger (11 Euro), vegetable platter (11 Euro), catch of the day (13 Euro), beef kebab (14 Euro), chicken breast Tahiti (14 euro) and the meat platter (19 Euro).
Mr. “C” chose the T-bone steak and I decided to take the fillet steak, as we usually do we followed the chef’s recommendation for a medium-rare steak, just like a steak should be. Once the waiter came to take the order for drinks to accompany the main course, he also cleared and cleaned the table and brought us proper steak knives.
I should mention here that the size of the steaks (how many grams) is not mentioned in the menu, should I recommend to ask before ordering, as the steaks come in different sizes.
Once we received the main dishes, we were in heaven. Both Mr. “C” and I immediately said that the steaks are THE BEST STEAKS we have ever eaten. True, we haven’t been to South Africa yet, which is where the meats at the Charka restaurant come from, but we have been to Argentina, and still- the steaks at the Charka were far better than any steak we have ever eaten anywhere.
All the main courses are served with sauteed vegetables such as cauliflower, beans & potato wedges.

My steak, the fillet (200 grams), was a perfect steak- when cutting it, it was like butter. And it was SO FULL OF TASTE that I wished I could eat this steak every single day.

The steak of Mr. “C“, the T-bone was huge (more than 300g) and also heaven, and only second best to the fillet. Both steaks were so full of flavor that there was no need to add any sauce or any other seasoning. Cheap Levitra The best part of the steak was the part closest to the bone- yummy!!!!!!!!!!
The seasoning level of all dishes was excellent- we wouldn’t add or decrease any salt or pepper- which says a lot.
As for the side orders, we asked to taste them, so we received all 4 complimentary dishes instead of just 1 dish for each main course. The side dishes include: braised pumpkin, creamy spinach, onion rings and green salad. The pumpkin was a little on the sweet side, however was a perfect match with the steak on the side. The spinach was absolutely excellent and full of flavors, the onion rings were great and the salad was splendidly sauced and made of only the freshest vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, lettuce and more. If we had to choose our favorite dishes we will go for the creamy spinach (my choice) and the classic onion rings (Mr. “C”’s choice).
As for the sauces, we received the mayonnaise, ketchup, Madagascar Pepper Sauce, mushroom sauce, cheese sauce and Bearnaise usa cialis sauce, all homemade and of very high quality. As mentioned before, though the sauces were great, there was no need to add them to the steaks as they were already so damn tasty on their own.
As for the wine, Mr. “C” had the Domaine st. Louis Cabernet Sauvignon wine, to accompany the steak which went very well with the dishes and was canonical match.
For dessert, we had the chocolate & orange mousse (11 Euro) and the Vanilla flavored Creme brulée (10 Euro).

The chocolate & orange mousse was great- very refreshing, and was light enough to eat after the steaks.
The Creme brulée was served with sesame twill and with a lit cinnamon stick which was very creative. It was nice, but not the best I have tasted. The twill was very good.
During the entire dinner, the service was very friendly and professional. The
background music was in perfect volume, so one could enjoy it without the need to raise the voice.
The only minor complaint I Generic viagra whithout prescription have about the restaurant is that the toilet is situated about 50 meters from the entrance to the restaurant, next to the reception of the hotel which is a little bit inconvenient.
We will definitely be coming back & we have already told our friends about this gem of restaurant.
My advice- NOT TO BE MISSED FOR ANY MEAT LOVER IN MAURITIUS!
